Midnight in Winter

the garden had wilted out

But we were already firmly plantedΒ

In a place without a doubt.

My sadness is caged within the sea
it rages each time it remembers me
and the secrets shared so frequently
in tears that slipped so silently
salting the waters where I’d dip
to strip off the pain
when the memories trip
on my sandy toes
climbing up my limbs
in twisted throes
thick like moss
it goes and grows
and I’m unable to move
but to and fro
until the tide goes from high
back down to low…
